I used to sell my merchandise out of a shop called "Hempire Whistler".  Adam, the owner was a big supporter of my music and hip hop culture in general. After a solid run he decided to move back to Fernie, BC where his sister runs another shop.  I decided to custom ebroider these hoodies to keep the legacy alive.  
 
As for the threads, HTNaturals has been a staple eco-business for 15 years. They started out as Hemptown in 1994 making primarily hemp clothing using the clever tag line "Want to change the world? Change your shirt!" 15 years of experience has brought about a respected, high quality sustainable clothing line that now encompasses bamboo, organic cotton and recycled soda bottles as well as hemp. Sadly, after 15 years, they have decided to stop making apparel. Their efforts will be focused on improving the quality and softness of hemp-fiber fabrics.
 
Substance abuse and addictions are themes that have had a big impact on my life. I used to use drugs and alcohol as a way to "emotionally check out". To be honest, I'm lucky to be alive. Most of my choices stemmed from a place of fear. I created coping mechanisms to deal with trauma, and it trickled into every other aspect of my life. The unhealthy relationship I had with myself was reflected in my environment.  I lost a lot of friends and lovers to the other side along the way.  It was challenging being clean in an industry surrounded by consumption. I would find clarity, become sober, then find myself in situations that triggered relapses.  I'll say that my journey has helped cultivate more love and compassion for myself, which in turn I extend to others.
